Had what happened not occurred then I probably wouldn’t have left a review but actually, the food wasn’t that special. My lasagne was small and devoid of very much meat. In fairness the pizzas were okay. We didn’t have puddings.
The issue for me is that 3 sodas with cordial were charged at over £13? At over £4 each it is as much as a beer?! Now, when a customer says that the drinks are too expensive then I think a small gesture to reduce the charge is a good way to keep a customer happy, when justified, which I feel this was.
The excuse given was that soda was from a bottle but when we initially ordered the drinks it would have been polite of the owner to point this out and perhaps say that lemonade would be cheaper.
It just smacked of trying to make as much money out of the customer of possible and I think it is ‘false economy’ for the restaurant because it led to me leaving this review.
When the manger gave the bottle explanation I just said okay because I was annoyed by then and just wanted to leave. I felt sorry for the waitress but explained I wasn’t leaving a tip because the drinks had been too expensive.
As I said to my wife on the walk back to the hotel, I really don’t mind paying when things are worth it but I hate to feel I have been ripped off.
